Two colours that look different on a chart can be one colour in the rain.
Customized Pinnies makes training pinnies to order — mesh, reversible, numbered squad sets, multi-colour session sets, solid-panel printed, and youth and school.

A pinnie has one job. It tells a coach, a referee and twenty-two players which group somebody is in, instantly, from a long way away, while everybody is moving.
It is almost never wear that stops it doing that. It is the colour pair. Colours are chosen off a chart, indoors, in good light, with the two swatches touching. They are judged at dusk, in the rain, from forty metres, over dark shirts, with both sets soaked and darkened.
Red and orange are an obvious pair on a chart and one colour on a wet pitch. So are navy and black. So is almost any two mid-tones.
Why we exist
Three things decide whether a pinnie works, and the colour chart answers none of them.
**Value contrast, not hue contrast.** Pick one clearly light and one clearly dark, whatever the colours are called. Value survives rain, distance and failing light; hue does not. The test costs nothing: photograph the two swatches together and look at the picture in black and white. If you cannot separate them there, neither can anybody on the pitch.
**Mesh is holes, and ink needs a surface.** Print applied to open mesh bridges the gaps instead of bonding to anything continuous, so it looks perfect on delivery and cracks along every hole within a season of hot washing. Numbers and logos go on a solid knitted panel built into the garment.
**It is sized over kit, not to a body.** A pinnie goes over a shirt, a training top or a school jumper. The armhole depth is what decides whether one size covers a squad — and it is what tears, which is why torn side seams get blamed on stitching and almost never are.
What we actually make
Mesh training pinnies in pairs chosen for contrast. Reversibles, quoted with the trade written down. Numbered squad sets with the number on a knitted-in panel. Multi-colour session sets built as a set rather than picked one colour at a time. Solid-panel printed pinnies for sponsors, councils and funded programmes. And youth and school pinnies cut to go over uniform.
Every one of them has the colour pair, the mesh weight and the branding panel stated on the quote.
What we do not make
Match jerseys and playing shirts. Cycling kit. Printed race numbers and race bibs. Rain jackets and outerwear. All different products with different construction, and there are suppliers who do nothing else.
And we will not describe a fluorescent training bib as high-visibility clothing. Fluorescent is a colour; high-visibility is a certification, and a pinnie does not have one. If somebody needs to be seen by traffic, they need a different garment from a different supplier, and we will say so rather than take the order.
The grayscale test, in thirty seconds
Put your two swatches side by side on a table under ordinary light. Photograph them on a phone. Open the photo and turn the filter to black and white.
If the two are obviously a light and a dark, the pair works and will keep working when both are soaked. If they turn into one grey, they will merge on the pitch and no amount of colour naming will change it.
We do this before quoting and we send you the picture. It has changed more orders than any other thing we do, and it costs nobody anything.
How we price
No dollar figures on this site. Price moves with the mesh weight, whether the garment is reversible, whether there is a solid branding or numbering panel, the number of colours and the quantity. The panel is a smaller lever on cost than most people expect and the single biggest one on whether your branding is still there next season. Send the details and a real quote comes back the same day, with a lowest-price guarantee if you are already holding a cheaper one.
On branding
A logo printed on open mesh is a logo with holes in it. Fine detail disappears into the gaps, thin type breaks up, and solid areas crack along the knit as soon as the garment goes through an institutional wash.
So branding goes on a closed-knit panel or yoke that is part of the garment, decided before it is made rather than added to it afterwards. We will usually redraw a mark free for that position — heavier weights, fewer hairline elements, one or two colours — because a logo drawn for a letterhead rarely survives being read from a touchline. You will see both versions before anything is produced.
Numbers follow the same rule, sized to the distance rather than to the panel, and set in a single high-contrast colour: outlined two-colour numbers close up visually at distance and turn into a blob.
